Otto Construction invites your firm to submit a Subcontractor Prequalification Form for the CENTRAL PLANT/TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELIABILITY UPGRADE (CPTU) project at University of California, Merced. It is Otto Construction’s intent to select Design/Assist MEP subcontractors for this project. Only those who have successfully achieved prequalification status will be invited to respond to a Design/Assist RFP. Project Summary: The Project provides necessary campus Central Utility Plant upgrades to provide increased utility capacities, and increased reliabilities to ensure continued utility supplies to the campus. The Project scope of work includes four major components: 1. Increase the Central Plant Cooling Capacity: Provide and install chillers, cooling towers, pumps, piping and electrical switchgear to provide a minimum of 2,500 tons of cooling capacity to meet critical short-term cooling needs. 2. Correct Existing Telecommunications Facility Deficiencies: This project will provide a new rack system with in-row cooling units served by an independent, closed-loop cooling system connected to the existing chilled water service with heat exchangers and pumps. 3. Provide Increased Emergency Back-up Power: Provide and install an emergency power system capable of providing one megawatt of power to support critical campus research and telecom infrastructure. 4. Campus Water Supply: Project will make additions to the pumping station and water delivery system that will improve the reliability of the water service.
