ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

(AFTER PREQUALIFICATION)

 

Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Merced, sealed bids for a CM at Risk contract are invited for the following work:

 

SCIENCE & ENGINEERING 1 & 2 RENOVATION

Project Number: 908079

 

Description of Work: University of California Merced (UCM) is renovating approximately 35,000 gsf of Science & Engineering 1, interior floors 2nd – 3rd and 20,000 gsf of Science & Engineering 2, interior floors; Basement, 2nd & 3rd, which will include soft demo of existing walls, remove and reinstall ceiling grid and tile, all to create offices, conference rooms, data labs, huddle rooms and all final finishes. Also included is coordination with relocation efforts, scheduling of construction to facilitate relocation of occupants during campus brakes.

Bidding documents will be made available on July 26, 2019 on the University’s ShareFile site for electronic download; hardcopy bidding documents will not be provided by the University. Bid Results will be available on our website at http://www.ucmerced.edu/community/rfprfq.asp. A Planholder’s List will be made available on our website at http://www.community/rfprfq.asp and on the University’s ShareFile site.

 

 

A NON-MANDATORY Pre-bid Conference will be conducted on August 6, 2019, beginning promptly at 10:30 am. Participants shall meet at University of California Merced, Classroom Office Building Plaza. If you need accommodations related to disabilities, please call Brandi Alves 209 228-4055 at least 3 working days prior to Pre Bid Conference /Project Site Visit or Bid Opening.

{FACILITY OPTION: IF FACILITY ELECTS TO REQUIRE ANY PREAWARD PRODUCT SUBSTITUTION, INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH:} The deadline for receipt of requests for products, materials or equipment specified by name may be required prior to the Bid Deadline. The Bidding Documents should be reviewed for further details.

 

Bid Security in the amount of 10% of the Anticipated Contract Amount shall accompany each Bid. The surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the Bid Deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120)."

 

The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the work. The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: GENERAL CONTRACTOR B

 

Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work.

 

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.

 

No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1.

 

This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.

 

The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
